This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights. The core principle of this application is that your data is yours; we do not collect or transmit any of your personal information.
By using the Service, You agree to the use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:
Application refers to QuickBars for Home Assistant, the software program provided by Us.
Company (referred to as either "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to the developer of QuickBars for Home Assistant.
Device means any device that can access the Service, such as an Android TV.
Service refers to the Application.
You means the individual accessing or using the Service.
This application is designed with user privacy as a primary concern. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. All data required for the app's functionality is stored locally on your device.
To provide the Service, the app requires the following information, which is provided by You and stored securely on your device:
Home Assistant URL and Access Token: These credentials are required for the app to connect to your personal Home Assistant server. This information is stored securely in your device's private, encrypted storage and is never transmitted to Us or any third party. It is used solely for communication between the app on your device and your Home Assistant server.
QuickBars for Home Assistant requires certain sensitive permissions to provide its core functionality. We are committed to using these permissions only for their stated purpose.
This is the most sensitive permission the app uses.
Purpose: The Accessibility Service is used exclusively to detect key presses from your remote control. This allows You to assign specific remote buttons (e.g., the red button) to trigger actions You configure, such as opening a QuickBar or toggling a Home Assistant entity.
What We DO NOT Do: The Accessibility Service is NOT used to:
The service's scope is strictly limited to capturing hardware key events to provide the trigger functionality.
Purpose: This permission is required to display the QuickBar overlays on top of other applications on your Android TV. This is a core feature of the app, allowing You to access your Home Assistant controls from anywhere.
Purpose: This permission is used for two key network functions:
No data is sent to Us or any other third-party service.
Purpose: This permission is used to read your device's local network state. Its sole purpose is to determine your device's local IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.100
) so that it can be displayed on screen for the "Connect with Phone" setup feature. This information is not stored or transmitted off your device.
The app may offer optional paid features or donations through one-time in-app purchases.
All financial transactions are processed securely by the Google Play Store's billing system.
We do not collect, see, or store any of your financial information, such as credit card numbers.
The security of Your data is important to Us. Your Home Assistant credentials are stored on your device using Android's encrypted storage facilities to protect them from unauthorized access. However, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Cleartext Traffic: To ensure compatibility with Home Assistant servers running on a local network, this app permits unencrypted HTTP connections. This is necessary because many local Home Assistant instances do not use HTTPS. We strongly recommend that You secure your Home Assistant instance and use an encrypted HTTPS connection whenever possible, especially for connections over the internet.
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information.
